Educator for SPCA
February 4, 2010
The BC SPCA is a dynamic animal welfare organization dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for domestic, farm and wild animals throughout B.C.
Prepare to change the world! The BC SPCA Education Department is looking for an energetic, resourceful and highly organized individual to fill the full-time position of Education Coordinator that will oversee youth humane education programming in the Greater Vancouver area.
Primary responsibilities include coordinating the Society’s summer day camp program (hosted in eight BC SPCA shelter locations); organizing and delivering youth workshops; and coordinating other humane education outreach programs.
We are looking for a creative individual who thrives in a fast-paced environment and has a demonstrated background working with youth in an educational or recreation setting. The right person is positive and outgoing; relates well with youth; and can motivate youth to create a more humane, compassionate world for animals.
You have the ability to work within a team environment but also able to work independently. This position requires access to a vehicle as some travel is involved. The position also entails a flexible schedule to accommodate some weekend and evening programming.
The coordinator will maintain an office split between our Vancouver and Surrey locations.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in animal knowledge and post-secondary education in animal welfare, animal sciences, education or related disciplines.
